Youth Leader Programme

Are you between the ages of 14-16 and passionate about learning how to coach gymnastics? If so, 2PRU Gymnastics Club invites you to apply for our esteemed Youth Leader Programme.

​

This comprehensive course, designed by Harrison Prudames and Reuben Prudames, aims to provide youth leaders with a strong theoretical and practical understanding of coaching recreational gymnastics. 

​

This opportunity serves as an excellent way to build your work profile, enhance your CV, and craft a compelling personal statement for college or university applications. We are also happy to assist youth leaders with their Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme (DofE).

​

Additionally, successful completion of this programme will position you to apply for and achieve a recognised Level 1 gymnastics coaching qualification. Outstanding performers during their voluntary hours may also be considered for paid coaching positions at 2PRU Gymnastics Club.

Boost your confidence and deliver clear instructions, ensuring effective communication with gymnasts.

Time Management:

Efficiently manage your time, balancing your youth leader responsibilities with other commitments.

Idea Sharing:

Engage in a collaborative learning environment, sharing ideas and insights with fellow youth leaders and all members of our team.

Assist A Senior Coach:

All youth leaders will work alongside a senior coach and will be given the opportunity to: 

  • Learn how to safely set up & adapt gymnastics equipment depending on the needs of the gymnasts in a given session.

  • Observe a senior coach delivering a live gymnastics session focusing on certain coaching techniques before having the opportunity to practise their own delivery of a gymnastics class.

  • Build an individual and group rapport with all gymnasts, and build strong positive relationships with all members of our club. 

  • Be provided with a complimentary 2PRU Gymnastics Club Youth Leader uniform, where you can demonstrate responsibility, leadership and ownership of your coaching journey.

52 Week Workbook

The youth leader workbook will include:

  • Weekly tasks & activities to complete in regards to the theory elements of gymnastics coaching.

  • Key information in regards to different gymnastics coaching topics.

  • Allocated space to take notes during/ after your practical tasks.

  • A section for senior coaches designed to provide you with positive and constructive feedback on your practical coaching performances.

  • Space to self reflect on practical delivery and theoretical application.

  • Additional home tasks & activities which will consolidate theoretical and practical learning.

  • Preparation areas to plan for upcoming weeks.

Meetings, Workshops & Support:

Opportunity to:

  • Develop solid listening skills by hearing fellow coaches communicate and share their innovative ideas at club meetings & coaching seminars. 

  • Improve confidence and speaking skills as you voice your opinion & ideas as a valued member of the 2PRU Gymnastics Club’s Coaching Team. 

  • Have 1-1 mentoring to ensure your personal goals are being met during your youth leader journey. 

  • Create and follow a personal success plan with appropriate support & guidance from a senior coach.

  • Regularly receive individual and group feedback on how to succeed as a youth leader.

  • Join our community based youth leader coaching forums, where you can ask for guidance, share ideas and offer support to fellow youth leaders.
