Secondary KS3
Ages 11-14
As your child progresses with us, our coaching team will have built a strong and individualised rapport with them. This empowers our coaches with the utmost confidence to tailor their sessions to meet the needs of every gymnast by being able to effectively motivate, progress and support each gymnast in their preferred way. With this knowledge our coaches can correctly implement the accurate techniques for each gymnast which makes their gymnastics experience more personal.
As gymnasts friendships become more established we want them to have further exposure to sportsmanship. This is a quality that is highly respected in all sports and if executed correctly, it allows one gymnast to act as a second coach to another gymnast. Giving advice and support to each other is a fantastic demonstration of camaraderie and respect, allowing the gymnasts to learn off each other's understanding & knowledge of the sport. Although gymnastics is an individual sport, teamwork is important for group performance and high morale.
Regardless of how long your child has been a gymnast, they will more than likely have a most favourite and least favourite apparatus. At this stage in a gymnasts career, 2PRU Gymnastics Club promotes the transfer of skill by bringing the strengths that a gymnast possesses on one apparatus to the weaknesses they may possess on another.
We do have an invitational only advanced class starting from age 7. These classes are based on selection only and the clubs head coaches will make contact with the gymnasts parents/ guardians if we believe a gymnast is suitable. Selection for these classes are based upon gymnastics ability as well as non- sporting excellence. Although the selection process starts from age 7, the clubs head coaches are constantly looking for gymnasts between 11-16 to be chosen for this class.

Secondary KS4
Ages 14-16
For our current members who have progressed through our gymnastics club the skills taught at this stage on our recreational programme are at the peak of difficulty and complexity. To achieve such skills, children will need to transfer all their gymnastics knowledge over from their previous classes. In this class we chase for perfecting our existing skills; attempt skill variations to make each general skill have a personalised aesthetic and aim to achieve skill connections by linking several skills together in one fluid motion.
We hope at this age group that our gymnasts have built up a high level of responsibility within our gymnastics club and we want to reward their hard work by allowing the gymnasts to voice what they would like to learn at this stage of their gymnastics career. This will occasionally allow for an extremely diverse and unique lesson plan to meet the desires of each gymnastics group.
2PRU Gymnastics Club’s coaches further aim to develop the triad of social, physical and cognitive components of each child. These are the early stages of what we believe creates a humble and well rounded athlete. As these gymnasts are the oldest members of our club, this also creates a great opportunity to lead by example and become a role model to not only younger children, but to fellow peers and even non- participants such as coaches and parents. We hope these qualities will transfer into life outside the gym and into home and school life.
For anyone who is interested in starting gymnastics at this age you are more than welcome to join 2PRU Gymnastics Club, regardless of your previous gymnastics experience. Our skilled coaching team will ensure you are introduced into gymnastics at the appropriate level and ensure you progress and achieve skills at a sustainable rate. Participating in gymnastics is an extremely health beneficial sport, which can also suffice as an extracurricular activity or pass for a Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
If, at this age, gymnasts want to retire from performing and take a non- participant role within the club, they can apply to be a voluntary youth leader by filling out the Youth Leader Form. Youth leaders with exceptional skills may also have the opportunity to apply for a potential paid coaching role at the club, given that there is a vacancy available.

If a gymnast is not ready to stop training at 16 years old, then we invite them to our adult class. This is a chance for gymnasts to take complete ownership of their training and physical health as it is their responsibility to attend a given session. Although this class is more coach led than not, there is time allocated during each session for supervised “free gyms”, allowing your all participants to plan & enjoy their own session.
