1. Clothing

  • 1.1 Appropriate Attire

  • Gymnasts are required to wear a leotard with or without shorts or leggings for their class.

  • Alternative sportswear such as t-shirts, tops, leggings, or shorts is acceptable if it is flexible and breathable.

  • Baggy clothing, skirts, certain tracksuit bottoms, and hooded jackets are not allowed due to safety concerns.

  • Jeans or clothing that restricts movement and causes heat retention are prohibited.

  • Socks must be removed before the session; grip socks are allowed but not recommended.

1.2 Dressing and Changing

  • Gymnasts must arrive in the clothing they intend to wear for the session.

  • Changing in the gym after the session has started is not permitted.

  • Starting with additional layers is acceptable, and removed clothing must be placed with the gymnast’s belongings after informing a coach.

  • Under layers are allowed yet must adhere to the above clothing guidelines.

2. Health Conditions

  • Parents/guardians are responsible for supplying necessary medication, such as inhalers or Epi-pens

  • It is the responsibility of both gymnast and parent/guardian to inform the coach of any updates to any new or existing health conditions, whether short or long term.

3. Illness and Injuries

  • If your child has diarrhoea and/or vomiting symptoms they must not attend their gymnastics session until they have been free of symptoms for 48 hours and feel well.

  • Gymnasts must inform a coach immediately if they are feeling unwell or have an existing injury.

  • In case of serious injury or illness during the session, parents/guardians will be contacted.

4. Verrucas and Hygiene

  • Gymnasts with verrucas are allowed to wear suitable socks, preferably non-slip or grip socks, to prevent slipping whilst maintaining hygiene standards.

  • Footwear to be worn at all times except in the gymnasium itself.

5. Jewellery and Piercings

  • All jewellery, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, smart watches, and fitbits, must be removed before the session.

  • Piercings must be taken out. If not possible, they must be securely taped.

6. Nails and Hair

  • Gymnasts must have short nails, including no false nails or acrylics.

  • Hair must be tied up to prevent obstruction of vision and entanglement.

​

7. Behaviour and Movement

  • Gymnasts must walk around the gym to avoid accidents, trips, and pushes.

  • Walking in a single file line is the default, unless instructed otherwise by a coach.

  • No gymnast is to overtake another gymnasts whilst in a single file line.

  • Gymnasts must not touch equipment without coach instruction, especially for altering heights and lifting heavy equipment.

8. Hydration and Nutrition

  • Gymnasts are encouraged to bring their own water bottles; cups will be provided if needed.

  • No food is allowed to be eaten in the gymnasium itself.

​

9. Mobile Phones

  • Gymnasts must keep their phones switched off or on silent during sessions to prevent disruptions.

  • All phones must have the flash switched off.

  • Phones should not be used during sessions unless specifically instructed by a coach.

10. Leaving the Gym

  • Gymnasts are not allowed to leave the gym under any circumstance without notifying a coach.

  • If a gymnast needs to use the restroom, they must inform a coach and adhere to club policies.

  • Gymnasts must remain with a coach until they are collected.

​

By following these clothing, health, and behaviour guidelines, we ensure a safe and focused environment for all gymnasts at our club. Cooperation and adherence to these policies contribute to a positive and enjoyable gymnastics experience for everyone involved.
