Last Updated: 01/07/2023

1. Introduction

The Fire Policy of 2PRU Gymnastics Club outlines the procedures and guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in the event of a fire or fire alarm. This policy emphasises organised and efficient evacuation procedures and the importance of cooperation to minimise risks and protect our gymnastics community.

2. Evacuation Procedure

In the event of a fire or fire alarm, the following evacuation procedure must be strictly followed:

2.1 Group Formation

  • Participants should immediately assemble in their designated groups with their assigned coach.

  • Proceed to the designated fire exit in an orderly and sensible manner.

2.2 Leave Personal Belongings

  • Do not attempt to gather personal belongings during evacuation. Focus on safely exiting the building.

  • Gymnasts and coaches should leave the building without footwear.

2.3 Gymnasts' Behaviour

  • Gymnasts should form single-file lines, maintain silence, and stay together with their group and coach throughout the evacuation process.

2.4 Evacuation for Non-Participants

  • Non-participants, including parents and visitors, must follow the fire evacuation protocol.

  • Leave the building through the nearest accessible fire exit without attempting to reach their child directly.

2.5 Building Check

  • A designated head coach will conduct a thorough check of the building to ensure the safe evacuation of all individuals, including gymnasts, staff, and non-participants.

  • Toilets and changing rooms will be checked to account for all children.

2.6 Fire Assembly Point

  • Everyone is to gather at the designated fire assembly point in the BUS PARK.

2.7 Register and Further Instructions

  • A register will be taken at the fire assembly point to account for all gymnasts and staff.

  • Await further instructions from designated safety personnel or a member of the management team.

3. Fire Safety Protocols

3.1 Regular Fire Drills

  • Periodic fire drills will familiarise everyone with evacuation procedures and promote a calm response during emergencies.

3.2 Clear Signage

  • Visible signs will indicate fire exits, evacuation routes, and the fire assembly point throughout the facility.

3.3 Fire Extinguishers

  • Fire extinguishers will be strategically placed, and staff will be trained in their proper usage.

3.4 Break Glass Call Point

  • Fire alarm break glass call points are available throughout the premises.

  • Proper usage instructions must be followed. Improper use may result in dismissal from classes.

3.5 Unobstructed Exits

  • Clear paths to exits will be maintained at all times.

4. Conclusion

By adhering to this Fire Policy, we prioritise the safety and security of our gymnastics community. The cooperation and strict adherence to the outlined procedures will enable us to respond efficiently to fire emergencies and protect the well-being of all individuals within the 2PRU Gymnastics Club. Regular training, clear communication, and organised evacuation processes will ensure a safe environment for all participants.
