3 Strikes Policy

Last Updated: 01/07/2023

At 2PRU Gymnastics Club, we believe in maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive environment for everyone involved, including but not limited to, participants, non-participants, coaches, volunteers, or visitors. To uphold these values, we adhere to a stringent 3 Strikes Policy, which applies to all members of our club. The policy serves as a clear guide for addressing unacceptable behaviour, and we aim to enforce it consistently and fairly. Here's how our 3 Strikes Policy works:

Strike 1: The first occurrence of any behaviour that goes against our code of conduct will result in a verbal warning. The head coach will engage in a one-on-one conversation with the individual involved during their session, explaining the concerns and expectations moving forward. Furthermore, we believe in open communication with parents or guardians, so they will be informed and included in the process through a discussion after the session.

Strike 2: Should the undesirable behaviour persist after the first warning, a second strike will be issued. This time, it will be a written warning, sent via email and/or a letter, addressed to the preferred contact email address for the individual. Alongside this written warning, a record of the incident will be kept at the club, providing a reference for future actions if necessary.

Strike 3: If despite two prior warnings, there is no improvement in behaviour, the individual will face a serious consequence. The third strike will result in permanent removal from 2PRU Gymnastics Club. As a club, we prioritise maintaining our professional standards and ensuring the safety and comfort of everyone within our community. We have been fair in our approach, providing ample opportunities for change, but we cannot tolerate continued misconduct beyond this point.

Warnings Across Aspects: We would like to emphasise that a warning applies to all aspects of our code of conduct. This means that if an individual receives a warning for one type of misconduct and later commits a different infraction, that second warning will be considered their final warning. Our intention is to address all forms of unacceptable behaviour comprehensively and give individuals an opportunity to correct themselves.

Immediate Dismissal: In extreme circumstances, where there is a severe violation of our code of conduct, we reserve the right to bypass the first two strikes and proceed directly to a strike 3. This decision is judged by 2PRU Gymnastics Club’s directors. Our priority is to ensure the well-being and safety of our club members, and we will not hesitate to take swift action in such situations. The instances below are not exhaustive but indicate the severity of such offences and the fact that such behaviour can affect the discipline and wellbeing of 2PRU Gymnastics Club:

  • Serious actual or threatened physical assault against anyone involved at our club

  • Sexual abuse or assault against anyone involved at out club

  • Repeated verbal abuse towards anyone involved at our club

  • Misuse or abuse of substances in and around our premises

  • Making a malicious serious false allegation against a member of staff

  • Potentially placing members of the community in significant danger or at risk of significant harm

  • Deliberate activation of the fire alarm without good intent

  • Persistent disruption and defiance

  • Offensive behaviour that is motivated by hostility or prejudice based on one of the following: disability, gender, race, religion and belief, transgender identity and sexual orientation.

At 2PRU Gymnastics Club, our "3 strikes" policy exists to uphold the values we hold dear - respect, discipline, and teamwork. We believe that by consistently applying this policy, we can maintain a positive atmosphere that fosters growth, learning, and personal development for all involved in our gymnastics community.
